Florida DSO growth and what it does to IT
Dental Care Alliance is headquartered in Sarasota. Groups need Concierge, not five Remote plans.
Journal · Florida · E·05 | Last reviewed: October 1, 2026 | 3 min read | By CyberDental Group LLC, Hialeah, Florida
Short answer: As dental groups and DSOs expand in Florida, IT shifts from fixing one office to standardizing many: a common stack, a repeatable acquisition onboarding process, group-level compliance evidence, consolidated vendor management and reporting. Five unconnected per-office plans do not deliver that, which is why groups use a custom Concierge model.

What is happening in Florida dental group growth?
Florida has a large and active market for dental groups and dental service organizations (DSOs). National and regional groups operate here, including Dental Care Alliance, which is headquartered in Sarasota, and independent owners are growing from one office to several by opening or acquiring locations. For the IT team, or the lack of one, that growth changes the job.
How does group growth change IT?
From one office to a portfolio. A single practice needs IT that works. A group needs IT that works the same way in every office, because inconsistency is what makes a portfolio expensive to support and difficult to secure.
Acquisitions arrive with baggage. Each acquired office comes with its own PMS version, imaging mix, network, vendor contracts and security posture, often undocumented. The group inherits all of its risk on day one.
Compliance becomes a program. A group needs one set of policies, one risk analysis approach and evidence organized by location, not a patchwork. See Risk analysis vs risk management.
Vendors multiply. Multiple PMS platforms, ISPs, imaging vendors and dealers. Without a single point of accountability, problems bounce between them. See How should vendors behave in the server closet?.
Visibility matters. Leadership needs to know the state of every office without opening twelve inboxes.
What does a group need from its IT partner?
- A standard stack, so the twelfth office looks like the second.
- A repeatable acquisition playbook: inventory, risk assessment, remediation, cutover, on a defined schedule.
- Group-level reporting across locations: security posture, patch status, backup health, tickets, trends.
- One accountable partner for vendors and escalations.
- A roadmap that aligns technology with the group's growth plan.
- Standardized onboarding and training for new staff.
Why isn't "five Remote plans" enough?
Because per-office plans scale the service, not the operating model. Five Remote plans give you five tickets queues, five sets of defaults and five relationships, and none of the group-level work above. For a small group, per-location Priority or Ultimate plans may be a reasonable start. When the group needs standards, reporting and roadmap, that is Concierge. See Concierge for DSOs and Why dental IT is priced per location.
What are the common IT mistakes in growing groups?
- Letting each office keep its own IT vendor.
- Skipping a risk analysis on an acquired office.
- Different MFA and endpoint policies per site.
- No central inventory, no central logging.
- Treating each acquisition as a one-off project.

Frequently asked questions
What IT does a growing dental group need?
A standard technology stack, a repeatable onboarding process for acquired offices, group-level compliance and reporting, consolidated vendor management and a technology roadmap.
Why do DSOs need a different IT plan than single practices?
Because the main challenge shifts from fixing one office to standardizing and securing many, which per-office plans alone do not provide.
What is CyberDental Concierge?
Concierge is CyberDental's custom plan for multi-location dental groups and DSOs, adding a dedicated engineer, strategy reviews, roadmap planning and group reporting on top of Ultimate.
